Marcus Garvey! Marcus Garvey, in full Marcus Moziah Garvey, was born August 17, 1887, St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica—(died June 10, 1940, London, England), Was a charismatic Black leader who organized the first important American Black Nationalist Movement (1919–26), based in New York City's Harlem.
ONH was a Jamaican political activist. He was the founder and first President-General of the U.N.I.A. Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League, through which he declared himself Provisional President of Africa.
